"We had an exceptional stay at the Groom's Cottage. It was a lovely base to explore a quieter area of the Lake District. The cottage is extremely stylish and cosy - perfect for a romantic getaway. It was a great location - walking distance to the local pub and tearooms and a scenic drive away from Keswick and other notable landmarks. Would highly recommend."

"What an amazing hidden gem, stayed here for the weekend and had a fantastic stay. The cottage had everything you needed, and was in a perfect location. The welcoming gift of the homemade cake was added bonus. Thank you Deb we will be back again soon "

"What a fantastic little hidden gem! All the comforts of home in such an idilic setting. The cottage has been beautifully restored by Debs and Paul with high quality fixtures and fittings. One added bonus is being able to preorder luxury hampers and goodies for special occasions etc . Fantastic walks literally from the front door of the cottage ranging from Binsey which gives 360 degrees views including Scotland and the mighty Skidaw , just perfect for the walkers among you. Would definitely return to this pretty comfortable cottage."

Leon & Siobhan

"The cottage is so lovely! We were so blown away with how beautifully the cottage was finished, the photos don’t do it justice! Although close to a farm, we didn’t hear any noise from there and it’s ideally located with good walking from the cottage. Debs was great to communicate with, we ordered the breakfast which was delicious and she answered all questions prior to arrival, we let ourselves in and the house was ready and warm! We can’t wait to come back and highly recommend! Thanks Debs!!"

Nick & Jess

"Beautifully decorated cottage in which to relax and be free from the intrusion of the "mobile phone". Off the main tourist track but within easy reach of the Lakes, therefore very peaceful. Welcoming eggs, milk, cake on arrival. The cream tea and packed lunches we ordered from Debs were excellent; highly recommended. Very good value for money."

Mr & Mrs West

"We had a fantastic stay over Christmas. Amazing little cottage in a quiet part of the Northern Lakes. Beautifully fitted out, and spotlessly clean. Communication with Debs was perfect and we would definitely love to come back! "

Jonathan Doolan

"Spent a quite weekend here to celebrate a special anniversary and what a special place, everything you could wish for. Everything just as it says on the website. Debbie you have an amazing cottage"

Mr & Mrs Head

"After trawling through a million cottages on various sites we came across this hidden gem, and spent a very cozy and relaxing New Year there. Situated in a quiet courtyard, we found the cottage to be immaculately presented and extremely well equipped. The bedroom in particular is stunning, with a bespoke wooden bed. The lounge has a great little woodburner and the owners are happy for you to adjust the central heating to suit you (unlike a lot of places where it's pre-set and unchangeable making for cold afternoons when you decide to have a lazy day!) Kitchen is also beautiful and very well designed, ditto the bathroom. Ideally located for exploring the northern Lakes, the cottage has a great information pack including everything from recommended shops, pubs, spas, walks, great if you're not already familiar with the area. All in all an absolutely ideal hideaway for a romantic week or weekend, with very responsive, considerate and accommodating owners - we're already planning a return visit."

Mr & Mrs Benzie

"Little did we know when we were presented with a beautifully wrapped box at Christmas we were being given a little oasis of calm. The Groom’s Cottage is a delightful stone cottage in a peaceful courtyard. It has been sympathetically restored mixing the best of modern design with elegance and comfort that is befitting. Lovely touches will appeal to walkers, maps and a set of Wainwright books to plan that extra walk you will want to cram in, especially after eating Debs cake! Only 11 miles or so from Keswick, ideally based for walks in the Lakes and the surrounding fells near Uldale. Groom’s Cottage is a little haven to return to where you can relish the peace and quiet, broken by the odd hoot from an owl, or after a tiring day it’s a stones throw to a lovely tea room or the welcoming Snooty Fox for a chat and a pint. For us it’s not far away, but it felt like a million miles and a wonderful few days to recharge away from the hustle and bustle. Looking forward to staying again. "

Mr & Mrs Scott

"We had an amazing stay. For anybody looking for a lovely quiet weekend away, this cottage is the perfect choice. The location is quiet and remote with lovely scenery and a number of nice walks in the immediate vicinity. The pictures of the cottage are a perfect illustration of the cosy and warm environment that's provided. The cottage is extremely well furnished and we found everything that we needed was available during our stay. Check in and check out was extremely easy and the cottage was very clean upon arrival. Overall this was the perfect long weekend and we would definitely return"

Chris Gilpatrick

"The cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed - it was pretty much perfect. "

Mr & Mrs Arno

"Absolutely lovely, couldn’t ask for a better place! Really lovely cottage with everything supplied that you could need. Great location for local walks and also to go exploring by car. Would definitely stay here again!"

"Hidden away in Wainwright’s Northern Fells, we spent a wonderful, crisp and clear weekend in The Grooms Cottage, Uldale. A lot of thought has been taken with the recent refurbishment, it is beautifully fitted out with bespoke furniture, complemented with the excellent choice of soft furnishings and artwork. The Grooms Cottage sits within a quiet courtyard and has a private garden. A superb location with plenty of walking on the doorstop and breath-taking scenery all around, yet close enough to towns and other Lake District attractions if you want to go a bit further by car. The attention to detail is fabulous and the Cottage is immaculately laid out with everything you need. Especially loved all those little extra touches, like the Honesty Larder and the delicious home baked cake that awaited us on arrival. Within easy walking distance of Mae’s Tearoom and The Snooty Fox, which offers excellent food and local beer in warm and comfortable surroundings. A truly great place to stay, we highly recommend. "

Mr & Mrs Philips

"We wanted a modern place in a quiet and beautiful area of the Lake District, and Grooms Cottage fit this criteria perfectly. The pictures do not do it justice! Whilst it is a small place, it's very cosy and big enough for two people. The garden is quite big, and full of chirping birds. The area is very, very quiet, apart from the odd cow mooing and a tractor going past. Phone service was limited (as can be expected in the Lakes!), but the WiFi of the cottage was amazing! There is everything you could need, including a comfortable bed, great kitchen with modern appliances, and a modern wet room. One highlight was the gorgeous cake and bread that greeted us when we arrived! Both were wonderful and delicious, and it added a personal touch to Grooms Cottage. Ultimately this place is wonderful, and we would definitely love to stay again! Thank you for having us!!"

Andy & Rosie

"We had a wonderful week staying in this gorgeous cottage. We arrived to find some milk in the fridge and a freshly baked cake on the table, which we thoroughly enjoyed eating! Groom's Cottage is very tastefully decorated and furnished, and perfect as a romantic retreat. The village in which it's situated has a tea room, and a pub. It's only a 20 minute drive from Keswick too. We would definitely recommend staying in this lovely place! "

Mr & Mrs White

"We went back to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary which is later this year. We had the most amazing week! We relaxed, ate the scrummy cake that was waiting for us and sat in the garden. We ventured out a few times for afternoon tea at Armathwaite Hall, a walk at Whinlatter, retail therapy in Carlisle and a potter around Keswick. We cannot recommend this cottage highly enough. It is absolutely wonderful! We hope we can stay again."

Mr & Mrs Blake

"What a lovely gem, an ideal retreat for two with everything we needed, and more! We had a wonderful week at The Grooms Cottage; so much to see and do in the area but also time to relax in the garden with the birds! Will definitely be staying again. "

Mr & Mrs Knewell

"Thankyou for a fantastic stay. We loved the cottage, the location and the little extras on arrival really started our holiday on a high. Excellent host who communicated promptly and clearly. All amenities needed in cottage including dishwasher, washing machine and coffee machine. The entire place was sparkling clean. Local pub with excellent food within very short walk. Nice recommended walks straight from cottage door. Safe, large bike storage provided with good road cycling from cottage. Definitely recommended.”"
